About the event
Decorated clothing held records of cultural origins, social class, family clan, and the lands they lived on.
Embroidery travelled around the world, smuggled on scraps of rough cloth, then copied and transformed in iterations unfolding across the globe.
Come reclaim the folk embroidery or adorn yourself in the figurative and ornamental designs that reverberate through your chosen lineages.
We provide the materials, and you provide a cherished piece or clothing or accessory to stitch with, in company and solidarity with other stitchers and their stories.
We’ll be working with water soluble waste canvas, which you’ll be instructed on how to remove when taking home your design
$20 per person. If price is a barrier, email workshops@artsjunktion.mb.ca for sliding scale pricing options.
