About the event
Social justice is an important focus for artists. Given recent political, cultural and environmental trends, it is all the more important for students to build understandings and publicly share their vision for positive social change through art.
This hands-on workshop emphasizes collaborative art making processes that engage Middle and Senior Years students. Instructor Joe Halas will share examples of public student art collaborations he has facilitated, and involve participants in collaborative idea development strategies and group art making activities. Joe will welcome the opinions, experience and expertise of participants to enrich and inspire as the day unfolds.
Joe Halas is a retired art teacher and consultant for the Winnipeg School Division, and has served as Arts Consultant for Manitoba Education Citizenship and Youth.
