In this full day workshop, our focus will be on outdoor learning. Bela will engage you in an amazing adventure showcasing the abundance of teaching opportunities that we have right outside our classroom walls. She will offer examples and ideas that will encompass all subject areas including Math, Art, Literacy, Science and Social Studies. We will also discuss how PLAY is an integral part of exploring the outdoors.
Bela Luis is a grade 1/2 multi-age teacher working in Seven Oaks School Division. She remembers the days of playing outside with her friends and cousins until the lights came on and is passionate about creating ways for all children to experience those same memories. She is currently working on her Master’s Thesis on the importance of Outdoor Space and Place in Children’s Learning.
